Benjamin Greené

Benjamin is a filmmaker, artist, and community organizer based in Portland, Maine. He studied Neuroscience at Oberlin College and co-directed a documentary about the struggle for shelter and community in post-Katrina New Orleans. After college, he spent two years in a brain-imaging laboratory before leaving academia to pursue Bury Me in Redwood Country, about the tallest and largest trees on the planet. He went on to film the award-winning documentary Survival Prayer on Haida Gwaii. His current projects include video and soundscape installations for hospitals and galleries, and a forthcoming documentary.

In addition to his artistic endeavors, Benjamin facilitates a cross-sector education initiative that developed a nationally recognized program providing outdoor opportunities for kids from the early days of the pandemic (featured on NPR).
